Annamaria Bianco is a PhD Student in Modern and Contemporary Arabic literature at the Institute for Research and Studies on the Arab and Muslim Worlds (IREMAM-Institut de Recherches et d’Études sur les Mondes Arabes et Musulmans) of the University of Aix-Marseille since 2018. Since 2019, she is also in co-tutorship with the University of Naples “L’Orientale”. Her thesis project is entitled “Adab al-malǧa: The Representation of the Refugee in The Arab Novel of The 21st Century” and is conducted under the joint supervision of Prof. Richard Jacquemond and Prof. Monica Ruocco. The research focuses on contemporary Arabic novelistic production on forced displacement, and analyzes a diverse corpus of novels, from the Maghreb to the Middle East, published between 2008 and 2019.
